I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Doane College (after a two-year stint at Chadron State) and my Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, graduating in 1998. I’ve worked in the mental health field ever since.
My early career included several years working in inpatient psychiatric settings, where I gained experience with serious mental illness, crisis, and complex mental health needs. For more than two decades, I’ve worked as an outpatient therapist, helping people navigate everything from major life transitions and relationship struggles to trauma, anxiety, depression, and the complicated stuff that doesn’t fit neatly into a box.
After nearly 30 years in this field, I still believe good therapy starts with a genuine human connection. Training and experience matter a lot. Feeling comfortable and relaxed with your therapist matters just as much.
